LOSS CONTROL CONSULTANT
USI
New England

Department: Client Services
Location:        USI New
England (Woburn, MA)
Reports to:    Doug Person
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

Works collaboratively with USI production staff (Producers), Account Management staff and Claims Department to provide consultative loss control services to assigned client base.  Client base located throughout New England with client locations throughout the United States. 

Regular Duties:

  • Perform initial Loss Control Assessments for all assigned clients, completing a thorough Loss Control Assessment Report, Risk Improvement Plan, and tailored Loss Control Service Plan addressing the wants and needs of individual clients.
  • Conduct the necessary site inspections, surveys, audits, training and consultation to accomplish individual clients’ Loss Control Service Plan.
  • Produce and process client correspondence, including: response to recommendations, site and operational observations, recommendations, status reports, etc.
  • Influence and motivate clients’ senior management team and line employees in a consultative role.
  • Extensive local travel, some overnights, throughout New England with occasional assignments nationally.
  • Interact with carriers’ claims and loss control professionals and coordinate complementary Service Plans.
  • Analyze prior losses to determine trends and problem regarding both frequency and severity.
  • Assist in the accident investigation process focused on future prevention and reoccurrence.  Develop and implement recommendations for the correction of unsafe actions, unsafe conditions and systemic issues.
  • Develop and present training sessions for internal and external customers, and various industry groups.
  • Assist in sales and renewal presentations to existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintain awareness of federal, state and local safety regulations and appropriate industry standards.
  • Track all time using billable hours system (Replicon).
  • Adhere to USI’s Loss Control Best Practices
  • Adhere to USI Time and Expense Policy.
  • Propose and Deliver Fee-for-Service Loss Control Services as appropriate.
  • Perform other assignments and duties as assigned by Superiors.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in loss control required (minimum).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Insurance coverage knowledge in the area of Property, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Automobile (Fleet), Construction, Business interruption and Product Liability preferred.
  • Proven track record of superior risk evaluation and client service skills.
  • Ability to function independently and as an integral member of the USI Client Service Team.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Teamwork and a collaboration approach are required.

Safety & Environmental Health Coordinator or Specialist

(title and compensation dependent on experience)

 

Quebecor World – Taunton Retail has an immediate opening for a Safety and Environmental Health Professional. This position is located in Taunton, Massachusetts.  This position reports to the Plant Human Resources Manager.   

Position requires three to five years of previous safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of safety and environmental compliance, laws, and regulations is a must.  Experience dealing with OSHA and DEP/EPA audits a must.  Experience with submittal of environmental permits preferred. 

A college degree or coursework in occupational health, safety, and/or environmental compliance areas preferred, but not necessary.  CSP Safety Certification preferred - but not necessary.  Knowledge of DOT Regulations a plus.   

Must be comfortable with and adept at training employees both during new hire orientations and throughout the year.  Must be extremely organized, thorough, meet deadlines, and must be able to multi-task.  Must be willing to maintain accurate and organized files—both electronic and paper.  Position also involves assisting with some office management tasks and coordinating annual safety events, like Safety Week.

Enel North America Health and Safety Engineer The person in this position will work with our field, staff and management professionals as a resource in the application of health and safety principles to the production processes. They will provide consultative support to management and employees with the goal of creating and maintaining the company safety program, with specific focus on geothermal power plant operations. The Health and Safety Engineer will work from our geothermal power plant in Fallon, NV and report to the Safety Manager Responsibilities:
Assist management with implementation and maintenance of compliance plans, programs, and initiatives primarily at geothermal power plants
Champions PSM program
Investigates accidents, near misses and counsels employees involved in incidents to prevent reoccurrence.
Conducts periodic inspections/observations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Develops, conducts and coordinates safety training
Trains and coaches management, safety committees and focus groups regarding health and safety observation/behavior skills
Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company health and safety policies, and practices
Coordinate safety initiatives and interface with contractors on large scale construction projects
Investigate and take appropriate actions concerning employee requests, complaints and concerns involving unsafe conditions/practices
Coordinate and monitor the selection, training, and use of PPE as needed
Maintain site specific OSHA injury and illness record keeping
Maintain the facility emergency action plan and provide training as needed
Provide information and assist in the development of budget forecasts, schedules and associated cost information and labor allocations
Maintain a positive rapport with various state and federal regulatory agencies
Special Projects as Required
 
Requirements:
BS in Health and Safety or related field
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed
Availability for domestic and international travel; up to 30%
2-5 years experience in the health and safety field. Experience in the power generation or construction field a plus.
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Experience with OSHA PSM, safety management systems/quality systems, or work with a process based production environment a plus
Ability to be on your feet walking around the facility at least 50% of the day. Climb ladders/stairs and lift as required to perform necessary job tasks.

This position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of health, safety, and environment practices for all departments and their personnel in compliance with all legal requirements, and company policy and guidelines. Provide program assistance and training to enhance the awareness of on-site personnel.
 
Assist the Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Business Continuity (HSE) in the implementation of the companies Health and Safety Program.

Provide support to HSE Industrial Hygienist, and Environmental Manager in project specific activities by conducting health and safety evaluations of the work environment and the assessment of work operations, chemical, radioactive and biological hazards and processes. development and or use of validated analytical methods to determine the magnitude of workplace exposure

Assist in maintaining established systems to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment compliance requirements (OSHA, Cambridge Health Department, NIH, State of Massachusetts, CDC, NFPA, EPA, etc ) and best practices relevant to all research activity and operations at the facility.

Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate standards and practices conforming with Novartis policies and guidelines for all research and facility operations. reports;

Serve as a technical resources to all personnel in developing workplace assessment strategies and producing guidance documents for Laboratory Safety

Assist in developing of training programs to promote the awareness of radiation, chemical, and biological safety practices for all facility personnel.

Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.

Requirements:
 
Minimum: B.S. degree in environmental sciences, fire safety, life safety sciences, engineering, or related field plus 3-5 years of relevant laboratory and/or safety experience. Strong technical knowledge in radiation safety, chemical safety or biosafety, permitting , and emergency response is a plus. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and computer knowledge required.

High level of effectiveness in a changing, fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make improvements in the department. Customer focus.

Preferred: Experience in research environment. Laboratory safety compliance, systems strategy implementation. Management systems and team approach to identification and resolution of issues.
