Position Description
Chartis has an opportunity for a Loss Control Consultant in its Global Loss Control Prevention-Safety division.

As a Loss Control Consultant you will be responsible for the following:

-Providing technical, administrative regulatory guidance to clients, underwriters and GLP consultants on loss control related issues, including risk identification, evaluation and control.

-Coordinating provision of safety/health related services provided by regional consultants and vendors to assure timeliness, quality and suitability.

-Developing loss control strategies and services that achieve a reduction in losses and assure quality customer service.


-Interacting with the client and broker to assure proper understanding of loss control needs and develop and implement systems/programs to respond to client-specific characteristics.

-Maintaining cooperative customer focused relationship with Zonal Managers and Underwriters.

-Functioning as a member of the Regional Underwriting and Production team and assist in the development of the business strategy for the division through proper risk selection.

-Developing detailed technical reports and recommended actions plans on client activities and risks.

-Providing required report/documentation on account management activities, administrative and expenses-related issues.

Position Requirements
-At least ten years loss control consulting or industry experience in safety and health.

-General knowledge of insurance industry and business operations.

-Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to safety and health.

-Proficient in Microsoft Office, EXCEL and PowerPoint.
.
-CSP, ARM, CPCU or related certifications.

-Must meet state regulatory compliance qualifications, where applicable.

-Unrestricted use of personal protective equipment e.g., respirators, hard hats, safety glasses, etc.

-Refined project & time management abilities, and strong personal interaction and team-building skills.

-Ability to coordinate multiple projects between clients and internal staff and external vendors.

-Refined risk assessment and report writing skills and the ability to "sell" loss control program needs

Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

Job Description:
 
Develops, implements, and maintains the policies, programs, and procedures within the TGI Health Safety, and Environmental Management System.  Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT health, and safety requirements established by regulatory requirements.   Ensures that all applicable internal and external reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner.  Conducts workplace surveys and assessments and advises responsible management of conditions requiring corrective action.  Provides HSE briefings and training sessions as appropriate to fulfill regulatory requirements and foster a safe working environment.  Leads incident investigations to determine probable root cause and develop corrective actions.  Establishes and maintains necessary contacts with site HSE regulatory agencies.  Reviews all projects and construction for HSE issues.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in a manufacturing or specialty chemicals environment with emphasis on chemical and material handling safety.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Professional Safety, Environmental or Industrial Health Certification. (Certified Safety Professional, Professional Engineer, CIH)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and foster a compliant / safety-first culture in the workplace· Experience in state and federal OSHA regulations as well as other regulatory standards (i.e. ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, NEC)
  • Experience in recognizing, evaluating, and recommending controls for workplace hazards as well as work -related injury and illness
  • Experience in organizing plant-wide safety programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of documentation procedures and development methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and skill as HS&E leader.
  • Excellent verbal and written (technical) communication skills.
  • High energy/ self-motivated/ a change agent
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, inside and outside the business unit.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate individual project activities within a larger project.

Senior Consultant / Manager
 
OccuHealth, Inc. recently celebrated its 20th year of success in EH&S consulting.  This was accomplished in large part by the commitment and professionalism of our staff.  To continue our success for another 20 years, OHI is strategically hiring a Senior Consultant / Manager for our Mansfield, Massachusetts office.  This is a highly visible position that is tasked with maintaining our existing client base, building on our broad range of services, expanding our market sectors, and fostering the development of junior staff.
 
The position involves management of both personnel and client accounts.  Ideal candidate must be able to provide and manage a full range of industrial hygiene, health, safety, and/or environmental related services.  Examples include: IH sampling, IAQ and mold investigations, H&S training, noise surveys, job hazard analysis, personal protective equipment assessments, EHS compliance auditing, and ventilation evaluations.
 
The candidate must also ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget by effectively tracking / maintaining multiple accounts, coordinating with staff, providing peer-review & technical support, and effectively managing work-in-progress and accruals.
 
Position requirements:
  • B.S. in IH, Safety, or relevant science/engineering discipline.  M.S. or MBA preferred.
  • 10 + years of Safety / IH / Environmental Experience.  A blend of Industry & Consulting experience preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of staff management experience
  • CIH / CSP.  Additional professional EH&S certifications preferred.

The Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety will be responsible to lead and direct the development and implementation of Evergreen Solar's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) structure and policy so as to support the overall business strategy. It is also responsible for determining the application of and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. This position has the potential to expand to global responsibilities consistent with the company growth plan. Must have a thorough understanding of the Health and Safety regulatory process.

 

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Position is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team.
  • Will lead development and drive implementation of a first rate environmental health & safety program with the goal to create an "incident/injury-free" workplace that protects employees, environment, and the community.
  • Implement and maintain a successful Safety Management System and lead management in the implementation of Health & Safety programs and procedures, including writing policies and procedures.
  • Coach, develop, and motivate managers and employees on EH&S matters.
  • Responsible for driving EH&S initiatives while supporting overall business strategy and success.
  • "Hands on" role involving significant involvement with plant operations.
  • Direct and manage the emergency response process for the plant including the emergency response team, emergency response procedures and liaison with external emergency response resources.
  • Directs the development and implementation of key EH&S programs including: Life Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Lock out/Tag out, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Hazardous Materials Handling, Hazard Communication, Noise Management and Ergonomics.
  • Perform comprehensive EH&S audits and drive issues resolution
  • Maintain knowledge of current EH&S industry and consensus standards and track corporate performance versus these standards.
  • Develop, implement, perform, or arrange all training programs in support of EH&S needs.
  • Ensure that root cause analysis of near miss incidents or accidents is understood and drive corrective actions.
  • Perform analysis of incident data for the identification of trends.
  • Actively participates in new equipment design reviews and pre-production commissioning of production equipment.
  • Create safety culture with active employee involvement.
  • Develop effective metrics / goals and analyze data, identify trends and ensure corrective actions are taken based on any negative trends, driving incident rates down, and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in related science
  • 10 years of experience in Health & Safety with 5 in program and people management.
  • Certified Safety Professional and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred.
  • Experience managing a multi-site and national EHS organization is a plus.
  • Experience with the health and safety issues related to the storage, use and handling of concentrated acids and other hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Experience working with the wet chemistry associated with the semi-conductor industry preferred.
  • Expert working knowledge and experience with Health & Safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong problem solving skills, required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of management, strong organizational skills and self motivated.
  • Advanced computer skills are required particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Must be highly proficient with office productivity software such as MS Word, Excel and Project.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills are required in order to deliver information to management.

  • Develop, implement, coordinate and monitor policies, programs and procedures
  • Manage, develop and coach all Sanitation and Safety Team Members to ensure high productivity and efficiency

  • Sustain the communication link between the Home Office and Club Team Members through the issuance of Action Memos, Safety/Sanitation Alerts, reports, etc.

The Person
 
  • 7 + years Management experience in a Safety, Food Safety or Sanitation capacity preferably within a retail, or warehouse environment
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State and/or Municipal laws/regulations pertaining to Safety, Life Safety, Environmental Safety, Food Safety, Sanitation, Communicable Disease or Industrial Hygiene
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
