Loss Prevention  Construction Consultant
 
 
Beacon has an opening for a Construction Consultant in our Loss Prevention Department.  This position is responsible for facilitating injury prevention by conducting site visits to various businesses within the construction industry to identify potential hazards and developing custom safety programs designed to reduce workplace hazards.  Responsibilities include initiating proactive workplace safety site surveys to indentify operations, hazards and controls; develop recommendation to minimize risks associated with workplace hazards; integrating professional advisory services as best practices; and developing and designing communication materials and presentations on construction  injury prevention.  This position will work closely with policyholders and agents in an effort to educate management and employees regarding sound workplace safety  techniques. 
 
The qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree and two years related experience in construction safety or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Candidates should have extensive knowledge of standards for both the construction industry and workplace safety and health. Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Must have effective presentation skills and experience conducting adult education workshops in different settings. Candidate should be an authorized OSHA outreach trainer for the construction industry.  This position also requires a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation to areas within RI, CT, and MA.

Overview:

We are currently looking to add an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to our staff.

The purpose of this role will be day-to-day management and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and programs to provide a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The position is responsible for developing and overseeing manufacturing and field project site EHS programs to assure compliance with NELCO Corporate EHS programs and polices as well as applicable OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state and federal EHS regulations. The EHS Manager will also champion site projects to achieve site and corporate objectives and report to executive management on EHS issues. This position reports to President / CEO.

Responsibilities include:

Develops and maintains Corporate EHS management systems, procedures, policies, and programs and ensuring their implantation at manufacturing locations and project sites

Supporting EHS Corporate objectives

Supporting member of EHS Steering Committee

Acts as EHS representative when interfacing with OSHA/EPA or any other local/state agency on issues related to EHS at manufacturing locations and project sites

Ensures manufacturing and construction site regulatory compliance and reporting with corresponding agencies

Acts as liaison between NELCO manufacturing/project site staff and executive management, reporting EHS progress to executive management

Develops, implements, and oversees EHS training program for existing and new NELCO staff

Develops, implements, and oversees NELCO’s Contractor EHS program

Serves as Corporate EHS audit function at manufacturing/project sites

Ensures corrective actions are taken on EHS hazards or potential hazards

Maintains a current knowledge to ensure the site is compliant with OSHA, federal/state, and local regulations and best practices related to EHS

Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

We are looking for someone who has BS or M.S. in EHS related science, engineering or related field and 1 – 3 years of EHS work experience in a manufacturing and/or construction environment. You must possess a working knowledge of MicroSoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). You must possess excellent interpersonal skills (training/presentation, communication) and working regulatory knowledge of environmental and safety laws. Ability to travel up to 25% of time is also required.

Construction Safety & Health Officer.

Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent will work primarily on updating ECM’s Hazard Communication program which will include creating a chemical inventory for the facility and obtaining/organizing Material Safety Data Sheets.  The incumbent will receive guidance from the EHS Coordinator to achieve these objectives.
Further, the incumbent may be assigned to any of the following duties:
- Research chemical regulatory approvals (RoHS, FDA, etc.)
- Assist with Monthly Plant Safety Inspections
- Participate is Safety Committee meetings
- Participate in Safety Training
- Other duties as needed
The Incumbent will also notify the EHS Coordinator of any plant environmental, health and safety compliance issues identified.
This paid position will require a minimum of 25 hours per week (First Shift) and is planned to begin as soon as possible.
Background / Skills:
The ideal candidate will be a Safety Studies student who has completed at least half of the required degree related credits, or has associated experience.  Basic knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations is a must.
Human relation skills are required to facilitate dealing with supervisors, engineers, and all other factory personnel.
The incumbent must have strong organizational skills, be detail oriented and have the ability to self-manage his/her time and responsibilities.
Strong English and grammar skills are essential for the creation of written policies, training documents, and any other formally submitted writings.

Supervisory experience preferred.
